At the request of 5 communities in its intervention area, the NGO CAV proposes to implement a program to support to have access to improved water sources. This project consists of the installation of 4 boreholes, a water extension in a health center and the protection of a market gardening site for women's groups. This is about to contribute to the improvement of the health of the communities estimated at 18,612 inhabitants, by providing them with quality drinking water in all season.

Challenge

The difficulties faced by these communities are generally the following: the water used in these areas is often non-drinkable well water, infected water from rivers and ponds, which causes water-borne and parasitic diseases such as malaria (the leading cause of morbidity and mortality noted in the health records), diarrhea and typhoid fever.

Long-Term Impact

This project will provide the following impacts 1. A sustainable solution to the problem of water sources drying up in the dry season 2. Prevention of water-borne diseases 3. Improvement of the health of the population; 4. Improvement of hygiene within the beneficiary health center 5. Crop production with very high yield 6. Poverty reduction of the women of the group
