GPFA increases access of women and youth to quality education through its scholarship program. Our 360-degree program provides healthcare, assistance with job placement after college, housing in some cases, and other financial assistance beyond tuition to students who come from impoverished backgrounds. Over the last nine years, we have supported over 600 students who study in Africa, Europe, and Africa. Your donation will provide 200 scholars with quality education and leadership training.

Challenge

At the advent of COVID, we expanded the support we provide to our students to include assorted food supplies and a monthly stipend to lessen the pandemic's socio-economic impact. When school resumed in December, GPFA received the most financial aid requests from non-scholars on the brink of being thrown out of school for tuition fees. Some of them risk the possibility of not enrolling at all. GPFA is extending itself to provide full scholarships to 200 students.

Long-Term Impact

There is a cyclical relationship between poverty and conflict. To break this cycle, interventions in education, public health, and poverty reduction must go hand-in- hand with peacemaking and democracy building. And we are committed to bringing long-term, sustainable peace to Liberia by investing in the skills, knowledge and leadership of the next generation (and future generations) of women and girls.
