Mangroves play a vital role in our critical fight against climate change and time is running out so it really is our final chance to step up and save our planet. Mangroves can be up to 10 times more efficient that terrestrial ecosystems at absorbing carbon long term, making the critical to our fight against climate change. However in Africa they continue to cut them down to make way for tourists, Thailand, Mexico and Indonesia they cut them down to make shrimp pens and in Florida they have few.

Challenge

We all know the problem of climate change and Mangroves are a unique plant that has a huge impact in helping tackle this. However in Africa they are allowed to remove the plants to help build homes or way for tourists to get to the ocean, in Thailand, Indonesia and Mexico they are removed to make way for shrimp farms that are temporary and when done they leave the water in a toxic condition the trees can't return. In Florida the only place they grow they have a very small number of trees.

Long-Term Impact

Long term we will provide hectors of forest that will protect our coastlines and take a huge step towards tackling the issue of climate changed caused by humans. This really is our last chance to act and so it is very important.
