43.000 of 575.000 autistic people aged 0-19 have access to education in Turkey. The classrooms of autistic children are insufficient. In addition to the physical equipment, the teachers need to be educated about technological tools, behavior problems and individualized teaching. Parents of the children with autism need support and education. Autistic children and young individuals, their teachers and their parents are directly served within the scope of this project.

Challenge

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental difference that manifests itself in the first years of life. The only way that has been scientifically proven to be effective for children with ASD is special education based on early, intensive, continuous, individual and behavioral approaches. There are 575.000 children with autism at school age in Turkey. Unfortunately, only 43.000 of 575.000 autistic people aged 0-19 have access to education.

Long-Term Impact

Autistic children can access the intense and qualified special education they need, most of them can find a place in society, lead an independent life and participate in the economy.
