While some parts of the world are seeing vaccine roll-outs, India is currently gripped by a lethal second wave of coronavirus. Hospitals are overwhelmed and there have been reports of oxygen shortages and insufficient hospital beds. There are urgent calls for more beds, medicines, oxygen, essential drugs and COVID tests.
Challenge
As the coronavirus continues to spread, communities in India facing poverty and injustice are again on the frontlines of the crisis. We have seen over 330,000 new cases of coronavirus in just a 24 hour period meaning that this second wave has proven to be even more devastating than the first. Now is the time to show the strength of our community.
