Develop an entrepreneurship program and provide training to the local community to generate economic growth in Caruao, Venezuela. With the creation of the chocolate factory in Caruao, we will promote the sustainable sowing and production of Cocoa, build a chocolate brand in the area, and activate economic growth for the community by selling chocolate and promoting new source of incomes for the local community.

Challenge

Caruao is a very poor community located in the coast of Venezuela. It has many natural resources that currently are underutilize, like Cacao. The village needs new sources of income and needs education to be able to prosper and give more opportunities to its future generation. This village is the middle of a tourism location but hasn't progressed. 50% of its population does not have an occupation or are part of the informal economy. 20% has only completed basic level of education.

Long-Term Impact

We believe that education is key for the economic growth of a community. We want to provide Caruao with the tools and resources required to create a chocolate school that will generate new source of income and promote sustainable growth of the community. The school will generate profit and skilled workers in the chocolate industry. This profit would allow the community to invest in their community and generate side business related to this main activity. Our goals is to make it replicable.
