This project will build a Primary Health Center in Abor-Ani village Awgbu, Anambra State, to make healthcare services accessible to the people therein. This is one of the villages in Awgbu, that has no Primary Health Center or Hospital. The inhabitants, who are mainly poor farmers and petty traders, treks to a neighboring village for medical treatment and this has led to loss of lives and worsening of some health conditions, that would have been averted by receiving immediate medical attention.

Challenge

Abor-Ani village is one of the villages in Awgbu, that has no Primary Health Center or even a Hospital. The inhabitants are poor and predominantly farmers and petty traders. They trek to a neighboring village for medical treatment and this has led to loss of lives and worsening of some health conditions that would have been averted by receiving immediate medical attention. Five people have already died in this village this year, as a result of lack of access to healthcare.

Long-Term Impact

Easily treatable problems will be speedily kept under control and minor injuries and some health conditions that would have led to serious ones, will be prevented through the building of this Primary Health Center. Also, the people of this village will not have to trek to neighboring villages for medical treatment, unless for conditions which requires them to visit a comprehensive health facility.
