It is believed that people with disabilities can not participate in the education, livelihood, religious and social functions due to disability. The fact is their participation is restricted not because of disability but they do not have appropriate devices that can increase their functional abilities. The project proposes to provide good quality assistive devices like wheel chairs, try cycles, smart canes, hearing aids to 500 women with disabilities from Gujarat and Rajasthan state.

Challenge

People with disabilities can not participate is not because of disability, but due to inaccessibility, affordability of assistive devices. PWDs have limited access to the services because Poverty prevents many people with disabilities from acquiring the assistive devices which would enable them to be mobile and participate in programmes for their economic and social well-being. Furthermore, there is an acute shortage of low-cost assistive devices, which are suited to the life-style of users.

Long-Term Impact

The project will enable 1000 poor persons with disabilities to participate in academic, social, cultural, economic, sports, art activities. This will also increase their visibility, mobility and functional ability.
