Supporting free holistic education for children in the slums, tribal and rural belts of India where child labour and poverty are widespread. Over 70,000 students in over 702+ schools spread across 22 states are benefitting currently from this project. Schooling, healthcare and healthy meals/snacks are provided for the children, whilst their families are also generally supported This in turn . Education is a universal right that can help break the cycles of poverty, disease and social inequality.
Challenge
There are innumerable children in India coming from disadvantaged backgrounds where parents often cannot afford to send them to school at all. As per the 2011 census data, as many as 7.8 million children are forced to earn a livelihood even whilst attending schools with more than 84 million children who still don't go to school at all.
Long-Term Impact
The long-term Impact can be a massive outreach to an increasing number of students and their families whose lives and communities can be transformed with education. The project has a proven positive record with a consistent increase in the number of students benefiting every year. Hopefully, with the support donors via Global Giving, the project can reach to more and more children and their communities who can benefit via the free schools and the respective services.
