Your donations will provide a quality education for 50 village children in Melinggih Kelod village in Bali and its surroundings, help maintain a safe and healthy learning centre, and give interesting educational materials to support their studies. Yayasan Begawan empowers village students from low income families to be creative, confident, environmentally-conscious and socially aware, with entrepreneurial mindsets that will lead their community and break the cycle of poverty.

Challenge

In the Balinese countryside, it is estimated that more than 77,400 people are living in poverty. In Melinggih Kelod village, the majority of the residents are living with very low and unstable income. Many villagers lack education to bring themselves and their family out of poverty. This project will empower and educate village children to be critical thinkers with entrepreneurial mindset to bring their community out of poverty, while still be aware of surrounding social and environmental issues

Long-Term Impact

Poverty in Balinese villages is a problem. Education is a passport for these village children to climb out of poverty. We are creating change by educating the younger generation to take an active part in environmental and social issues and to empower them to be able to break the cycle of poverty in Balinese villages. We have now reached over 2,000 students, and taught over 50 classes, in 25 schools in 6 villages in Bali - Melinggih Kelod, Melinggih, Sayan, Mambal, Sibang and Sibanggede.
