Elimu Resource Centre is a digital hub for learners in Malindi, Kenya that uses technology to put educational resources into hands that had never held even a textbook much less a laptop! The pandemic shut our doors last year, so as we welcome students back for their personal study and computer training we want to offer them a fresh clean environment. Will you help us make Elimu Resource Centre into a clean, safe study environment for kids again?

Challenge

Thousands of energetic children and teenagers have passed through the halls, stairways and rooms of Elimu Resource Centre since 2018 - leaving their mark. Indoors, the walls are stained and discoloured and paint is peeling off. The outside walls have been faded by the sun and our painted signs are hardly readable. After a year of lockdowns, we also want to give the place an extra clean up!

Long-Term Impact

At Elimu Resource Centre kids find a bright youth-friendly environment for their homework and remedial learning. In 2019, the Centre hosted over 15,000 student visits. After 10 months of closure in 2020, we opened our doors in January under strict COVID-19 protocols. Lockdown times provide a good opportunity for undertaking this huge painting project. Repainting the Centre will revive its image and clean and improve the learning environment. Thank you for helping us to achieve our goal.
