This project gives children an outlet to their emotions while teaching them about the environment: we have workshops that include talking about the environment and using recyclable materials to make cool toys.

Challenge

Education in general in the Dominican Republic is very deficient, not to mention environmental education and we believe that focusing on the younger generations will help shift the culture towards a less waste prone mentality. Even though some sectors have programs, you can see on the streets and while talking to people that most people don't recycle.

Long-Term Impact

Children will not only have an emotional outlet, get environmental education and help spread what they learn, they will be contributing to society with their actions after understanding that waste, climate impact and protecting the planet affects us all. They will potentially find a new avenue to future jobs that will certainly will focus on environmental protection.
