Girls in the Lead (GIL) empowers women and girls worldwide by promoting gender equity through organizations in the field of sports for development. GIL serves as an interactive, online learning platform and convener for international, national, and local organizations, stakeholders, and leaders to equip them with the knowledge, resources, and connections to be able to safely and effectively serve more girls and women through the power of sport.

Challenge

Girls and women around the world are often unable to participate in daily life or given decision making power over their bodies and choices. Often, girls are not able to receive an education, given access to resources, or participate in sports. Sports for Development organizations have not reached their full potential. Many have created innovative strategies to promote girls' and women's leadership, but do not always have access to collaboration or knowledge transfer.

Long-Term Impact

Our platform helps scale the best ideas and accelerate transformation of the sports for development landscape to be more focused on gender, impact and resiliency. The goal is a world full of strong girls and safe communities. Together we can learn to improve on child protection, program design, understand our impact, and grow the resources we need to serve our communities.
