This project will support the reintegration of 50 survivors of child trafficking. Each child will have their school fees paid including their school lunch fee, receive a school uniform and all other learning materials, receive health insurance, & their caregiver will be assisted with a livelihood stipend. Additionally, each caregiver receives training on children's rights, the dangers of trafficking, reproductive healthcare, & parenting. This is critical to ensuring they are not re-trafficked.

Challenge

There are 49,000 children, as young as 4 years old, working in the fishing industry on Lake Volta in Ghana, & more than half of them have been trafficked there. Many children that are rescued from the lake still run the risk of being re-trafficked. Challenging Heights aims to end child trafficking in Ghana's fishing industry, & one of the ways we do that is through our rescue, rehabilitation, & reintegration program. Our reintegration program is critical to ensuring they are not re-trafficked.

Long-Term Impact

This project will ensure that 50 children will not be re-trafficked to Lake Volta, allowing them to pursue their goals and reach their full potential. This also contributes to Challenging Heights' aims to end child trafficking in Ghana's fishing industry.
