TCKN Foundation offers quality Montessori pre-school education for toddlers and pre-schoolers aged 1-6. Now 20% of them learn free of charge; TCKN plans to increase this number so that cost is not a barrier for any child and to expand its facilities as it has reached the capacity of its current traditional wooden village house. It emphasises a nourishing values-based learning environment in which children feel cared for, loved, safe and can learn and grow in harmony with the natural world.
Challenge
Insufficient good quality pre-school education, especially in villages, is a primary factor that holds families back from social and economic progress. Struggling families lack adequate resources to afford pre-school education when it is available. Underprivileged children are constrained in realising their full potential while communities miss out on growth opportunities and the benefits of educated, purposeful and confident youngsters.
Long-Term Impact
The Lilliput World school will give an all-round foundation in learning to young children, resulting in confident, independent and well-educated six-year-old children who are prepared for and able to secure entrance to good primary schools. They will gain good personal and social awareness, a sense of their own identity and skills to further their overall education and development and that of their families and the community at large.
