This project will up-skill early childhood teachers at 30 schools through in-classroom individual mentoring and coaching and tailored group workshops and provide essential resources to schools such as educational supplies and furniture to improve learning environments.

Challenge

Early childhood teachers in townships are often lacking in the necessary education and skills to provide much more than a custodial care service for the children of working parents. The "teachers" are passionate and keen, but need training to help them understand how to apply theory learnt at college in the classroom. They also don't have the funds to buy resources to be able to engage children with stimulating learning activities that will meaningfully help them on their educational journey.

Long-Term Impact

Upskilling early childhood teachers increases each child's opportunity to break the education poverty trap by giving children the starting chance they desperately needed to unlock a different future for them as individuals, their families, and their communities. Upskilling early childhood principals and teachers also improves the sustainability of women entrepreneurs and increases the positive impact they have in their communities, whilst enabling realis their own potential and self-efficacy.
