At present the projects are 100% reliant on donations and fundraising. Depending on funding, as part of the next phase of The Phoenix Projects we hope to invest in sustainable income-generating plans (including cows, chickens, vegetable gardens, weaving and textiles) over the next few years which will ultimately make all the projects self-sustainable financially and create micro-businesses for the families.

Challenge

The Phoenix Projects provide education to almost 1,000 children, teenagers and adults in Guatemala, Honduras, Ecuador and Peru. At present the projects are 100% reliant on donations and fundraising. Also, the employment market for our students on leaving school is minimal.

Long-Term Impact

In the future, these plans will be employment and income providers, both for the schools and for the families. Once initial income is derived these small micro-businesses can be expanded into small local industries which provide further employment. Sustainable education, income and employment is the goal.
