HRE Germany will train a pool of 500 trainers of both refugees and host community members in unique and effective relaxation and stress relief techniques to strengthen peace of mind and trans-cultural understanding through the HRE (Healing, Resilience, Empowerment) program. Furthermore, they will share their learnings and co-teach others. HRE also will support them in co-developing a guide with good practices for other host communities, refugees, frontline workers and decision makers.
Challenge
As long as the legal status of refugees in Germany is not decided, they have to wait for months or even years in overcrowded accommodation facilities with restricted freedom of movement and no privacy. This situation can lead to either very high stress levels which often trigger conflicts and violence among refugees. Or it can lead to depression, inner isolation and lethargy. Widespread medication creates addiction and dullness. Also trauma from war or escape route experience was never attended.
Long-Term Impact
The project will on one hand contribute to stress relief and inner stabilisation and on the other hand strengthen relationships and dialogue as well as trans-cultural understanding between refugees and host community members as the main foundations of the integration of refugees as new community members.
