For women in Kenya, science is not an easy career to get into. For those who choose this career path, there is often a lack of mentorship and job opportunities. We are proud to support a dynamic team of Kenyan female scientists, actively working in science and, inspiring younger girls to follow their dreams!

Challenge

Science has been widely considered to be masculine career in Kenya. From an early age, women are often led to believe their career is secondary to that of a man. Sadly, only 65% of women attend secondary school, and a tiny 3.3% reach tertiary education. For those women who do make it through education, the lack of mentorship is another hurdle to overcome, further widening the gender imbalance in certain careers.

Long-Term Impact

Your donation will help support these Kenyan women in science as well as there work with other women, helping them inspire hundreds of more young Kenyan women to dream bigger. This will not only support these women in their daily work but provide them the training, security and support needed to allow them to build their career, so they become tycoons of their industry. Like the snowball effect, we want to create a movement where these women are no longer the exception but the rule!
