We offer a home and vocational training for up to 20 homeless people in Tbilisi. In the last 10 years, 400 children and teenagers have passed through our rehabilitation process and almost all have now built successful, independent lives. We run several small enterprises to provide training and work including a printer cartridge refilling service, which helps to fund our work. In today's tough climate, we are struggling and have had to turn teenagers away because we can't feed them.
Challenge
The homeless are the most vulnerable young people possible. On the streets they are at risk of exploitation, of health problems and of getting in trouble with the law. In Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia, there are few services for homeless young people. Homeless teenagers mothers and their children are also not provided for.
Long-Term Impact
By providing training and work placements, we help our residents avoid homelessness or prison and we give them the chance to build a stable adult life and contribute to their community. At the moment we are housing 14 people including 11 young children, although numbers vary. Our residents need to be fed and looked after in a safe environment. By funding this part of our service GlobalGiving donors are helping change lives for good.
