Region: India

There are several physical health problems that are prevalent among youth in India. Some of the most common ones include:

Malnutrition: Despite being one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, India still struggles with a high prevalence of malnutrition. According to UNICEF, one in three children in India is malnourished, which can lead to stunted growth, impaired cognitive development, and weakened immune systems.

Obesity: With the rapid growth of urbanization and a more sedentary lifestyle, obesity has become a growing problem in India, particularly among young people. According to a 2019 study published in the Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care, the prevalence of obesity among adolescents in India has increased significantly in recent years.

Mental health issues: Mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, and stress are increasingly common among young people in India. According to the National Mental Health Survey of India, around 7.5% of the Indian population suffers from some form of mental illness, and the prevalence of mental health issues is higher among young people.

Infectious diseases: Young people in India are also at risk of contracting infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, and dengue fever. Poor sanitation, lack of access to clean water, and inadequate healthcare infrastructure contribute to the spread of these diseases.

Substance abuse: Drug and alcohol abuse are also becoming more prevalent among young people in India, particularly in urban areas. This can lead to a range of health problems, including liver disease, cardiovascular disease, and mental health issues.
