This 9 month project will empower 10 young women, ages 13-30, working in prostitution with vocational skills, education on sexual and reproductive health, and psychological support to enable them to drive their process of reform, rehabilitation, and ownership over their lives.
Challenge
There are over 150,000 women working in prostitution in Kenya. The cause? Poverty. Women in prostitution are frequently stigmatized in ways that predispose them to marginalization. For many girls as young as 13, sex work is the only option for them and their families to survive. This project will equip 10 young women in prostitution in Sinai Slum with knowledge about their rights, psychological support, and vocational skills to help them lead their process of reform and rehabilitation.
Long-Term Impact
This project will rehabilitate and empower 10 young women, ages 13-30, working in prostitution by allowing them to overcome barriers of poverty and stigmatization and making them role models that will inspire other young women to lead their own process of reform.
