This #GivingTuesday, Puerto Rico Legal Services (SLPR) will launch a fund dedicated to ensuring thousands of people and communities access to the legal system and justice through education, training and legal representation. We need your support to continue offering free legal services to the nearly 50% of Puerto Ricans who qualify because they live in poverty.

Challenge

We need to have a fund that allows us to financially support our constituents and the defense of their rights. Every dollar is important because social justice is priceless. Over the years, we have found that having sufficient resources to provide the best possible services and meet the urgent legal needs of our clients, for example, to manage or subcontract experts for hearings and court cases in defense of their rights, is essential and something that our clients urgently need.

Long-Term Impact

In the long term, the creation of the fund guarantees the best possible legal representation for our clients, as it is insures the availability of vital tools when it comes to meeting the needs of those who come to our offices in search of support, guidance and legal representation. This has proven to be of particular importance in cases of evictions and other housing problems, special education, domestic violence, inheritance and community rights.
