Nigeria currently has one of the largest homeless populations in the entire world. Approximately 24.4 million homeless people live in Nigeria.Force eviction exacerbates the homelessness problem.Terrorist activities uprooted many Nigerians.Ten years after its uprising in 2009, over 2 million are still displaced from their homes. Sam Onyemaechi is making many efforts to reach the street kids of Nigeria, seeks to place displaced children back in school and assist with social and psychology problems.

Challenge

In recent times, based on the poverty line of $1.90 per day, 46.5% of Nigerians are extremely poor, with the World Poverty Clock naming Nigeria, 'the poverty capital of the world'. According to the World Poverty Clock (2019), extreme poverty in Nigeria is increasing by almost six persons per minute. The reality of the nation is that corruption, unemployment and inequalities have destroyed the nation's economic framework, causing it to be the poverty capital of the world .

Long-Term Impact

There would be economic growth and job opportunities and hence stronger demand for labour, the main and often the sole asset of the poor. In turn, increasing employment has been crucial in delivering higher growth. Strong growth in the global economy in the next 10 years means that the majority of the world's working-age population is now in employment. Since 2012, SOHF has provided a holistic approach to help the poor and homeless overcome the scars of extreme poverty and excel in life.
