With this project we will buy a solar wood dryer so that hundres of Costa Rican families who reforest their land can sell their wood for fair prices. in this way reforestation will be a real option for people to maintain their families while planting trees!

Challenge

Reforestation is urgent in a world with climate change. In developing countries it helps farmer families harvest trees sustainably, protecting natural forests. If trees produce income locally, this in turn makes more people want to plant trees, expanding local forests. Unfortunately, our farmers are getting very low prices for their wood because of the lack of processing. ASIREA is a local farmer organization fighting to solve this problem.

Long-Term Impact

The long term impact is that planting trees will become a sustainable economical alternative for farmers. If reforestation is seen as a potential income, more and more farmers will plant trees, changing the landscape, changing lives, creating new jobs and businesses and saving soils and water.
