Children in Families is a local Cambodian NGO. We place vulnerable children in loving families, where they belong. We are dedicated to providing high-quality family-based care for orphans and vulnerable children in Cambodia, ensuring that children can grow up in loving environments and receive the education, nutrition and medical support they need to thrive in the future. We support families and communities to be safe environments for children, and advocate for family-based care globally

Challenge

Children in Cambodia often find themselves without family connections and placed in orphanages or abandoned because the parents feel unable to care for them due to health concerns, poverty or a need to migrate for employment. According to a recent Cambodian government survey, over 16 000 children are growing up in orphanages in Cambodia. 80% of those children have parents who could care for them if given support, and a further 10% have extended family members in the same position.

Long-Term Impact

Children in Families promotes healthy families and thriving communities. Families are being strengthened, children are receiving education and health care, and communities are being trained in how to care for the children around them. The ultimate aim is to see families and communities in Cambodia empowered to provide children with a safe and healthy childhood, so that they become healthy, positive adult members of their families and communities.
