West Java, Indonesia experienced a 5.6-magnitude earthquake on the afternoon of November 21, 2022. Initial reports state that over 260 people have died and hundreds more were injured as a result of the disaster. Several thousand homes have been damaged or destroyed and as many as 58,000 people have been displaced. We have begun initial disaster response efforts in the affected areas and will continue to serve these communities with long-term efforts after the initial emergency response.
Challenge
The earthquake has caused extensive damage and devastation in the district of Cianjur, West Java. To make matters worse, many of the families affected by this disaster are impoverished and have little to no resources. We are currently on the ground and providing initial emergency assistance and we will also be active during the long-term recovery as well. Your donations will help with immediate emergency needs as well as long-term help for affected families.
Long-Term Impact
Your donations will help us meet immediate and urgent physical needs, such as food and clean water for those directly affected by the earthquake. Also, because we are a local humanitarian organization with roots already in the community of Cianjur, we are committed to long-term support for those affected by this disaster. One of our main methods in long-term support will come through supplying ceramic water filters to families in need.
