Help us fund training for 100 young people with disabilities in information technology and job-readiness! POETA Accessible trains people with disabilities on technology skills, adaptive technology, job readiness and content accessibility. The project in Brazil will provide curriculum development, educational materials, internet access, training for trainers, and specialized institutional strengthening for our local partner's center.
Challenge
According to the Brazilian census conducted by the Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatistica, 14.5% of the Brazilian population has some type of disability. Of this number, 70% live below the poverty line, 33% are illiterate and 90% are outside the labor market. Millions of people living in poor communities need training and job placement to facilitate greater inclusion in the labor market and in society.
Long-Term Impact
Over the past ten years, the Trust has established a sustainable network of 174 POETA centers in 18 countries, providing training in digital literacy, job readiness and life skills to at-risk youth, people with disabilities, and conflict-affected communities. POETA Accesible matches skilled people with disabilities with prospective employers, impacting their lives beyond their experience at the centers.
