Under this project, we are raising funds for the abandoned and destitute senior citizens living at Al-Mustafa's nursing homes: "The Gosha-e-Ameer Hamza RA" (for men) and "Gosha-e-Khatoon-e-Jannat RA" (for women). Your generous donations will help us fulfil their needs such as healthy food, clothing, healthcare facilities etc.
Challenge
As the elderly population rises worldwide, a similar trend is witnessed in Pakistan. It is estimated that 7% of the population (about 14 million) is over 60 years of age (British Council, 2019). Alarmingly, it is expected to reach up to 12.9% in 2050. During the course of adopting to modern lifestyle, the part of society suffering the most during this transitional phase towards progress is the elderly population since the government has no or very poor backup plans for them.
Long-Term Impact
Ageing is an unavoidable natural phenomenon, and older adults are dependent on others. After spending all the resources (material and emotional) on society, every human has the right to spend their last phase of life comfortably. Our nursing homes strive to give this right to those unfortunate older persons who can't have it otherwise. We at Al-Mustafa believe in trying our best to keep our values intact; it's our pledge to the people and the society.
