Covid-19 has hit the Halstead Day Centre hard. The work of this much valued centre, which supports its members to enjoy Independent Living, is being frustrated by current restrictions of the pandemic. The number attending is now limited to 6, whilst the day to day running costs that ordinarily provide facilities for 20 members, remain much the same. Our aim is for the Centre to maintain the excellent service that it provides to the elderly people of Halstead and the surrounding villages.
Challenge
Member Ken , said, "I come here for the fun and the company, they are all the people I see, I don't see anyone else". The Halstead Day Centre provides a secure environment for elderly citizens to meet and enjoy each other's company. Without this service a lot of local residents would not leave their homes and would not see many, if any, friendly faces. Loneliness is something that we can help to overcome by continuing with the service that has been provided by the Centre for over 40 years.
Long-Term Impact
The continuation of the service provided by The Halstead Day Centre will enable elderly people who are isolated to remain living in their own homes for as long as possible. The Centre will continue to provide a regular opportunity for social gathering and therapeutic activities for members, and will afford relief to caring relatives and neighbours.
