The project aims to prevent sexual abuse of nearly 100 children affected by HIV/AIDs, orphans, and poor children to ensure that they have a healthy, safe and happy life, instead of suffering the consequences of sexual abuse in both the short and long term. The main activities include: Strengthen life skills and knowledge for children to protect themselves; Support for adolescents in apprenticeship and job seeking; Provide monthly financial support; Raise awareness and skills for stakeholders.
Challenge
Kenh Duong Ward (Hai Phong city) - a key area of crime and social evils, has 100 poor children affected by HIV/AIDs. Almost them are living with grandparents, or only with their father or mother, so they do not get adequate care and education; especially they lack skills and knowledge about prevention of sexual abuse. Meanwhile, caregivers do not recognize the risks and the need to protect children from sexual abuse, and do not have knowledge and skills to prevent sexual abuse for children.
Long-Term Impact
Sexual abuse - a serious human rights violation - cause lasting harm to a child's physical and mental health, even death. The project helps children who are victims or at high risk of sexual abuse can protect themselves; and help caregivers become a strong line of children protection from sexual abuse. As a result, children will have a safe, healthy life and opportunities to develop comprehensively. So this project contributes to the realization of the child's right to survival and development.
