Stable housing is one of the necessary foundations for a secure family. Thousands of people in Chicago struggle to maintain that necessity. Your donation to CCR creates an opportunity for tenants and landlords to talk, construct practical solutions and preserve relationships.

Challenge

When displaced from their homes, individuals families live in chaos, struggling to maintain work commitments and attend school. When individuals and families maintain their homes, they can build careers, pursue education and strengthen their communities. Many people find themselves involved in evictions court as a result of their hardships, and feel they have few options for communicating with their landlords.

Long-Term Impact

Low-income families are deeply affected when they lack of stable housing. Job prospects and education opportunities are limited when basic needs aren't met. Parents have a hard time attending work regularly and children's education is often disrupted. The entire community is affected economically -- displaced families require the resources of shelters and temporary housing, draw on public housing resources, and sometimes incur extra medical costs due to their circumstances.
