This project supports young girls to remain in school and graduate. It also delivers a Community Menstrual Health programme through our trained Ambassadors to both men and women through education, eradication of myths and taboos, provision of reusable sanitary pads, access to clean water, handwashing facilities, and safe reliable washrooms in schools.

Challenge

Periods don't stop for pandemics. Women and girls have no knowledge of menstruation or their sexual reproductive health. There are many myths and taboos. There is no access to sanitary pads, clean water, handwashing facilities, or latrines. Girls miss school every month, fall behind, and often don't complete their education. Girls are then more likely to marry young, be susceptible to FGM, and teen pregnancy. Women are affected by the stigmatization and without education are limited.

Long-Term Impact

Our Menstrual Health programme enables more girls to complete formal education and become more likely to enter the workforce, encouraging independent financial resources and economic empowerment. As women and girls take control of their own Menstrual health management, it creates an enabling environment contributing toward the elimination of violence against women, increased understanding of their human rights, and provide alternatives to early childhood marriage. Breaking the poverty cycle.
