Provide skills to 10 young visually impaired people on how to develop websites and simple applications in Kigali City, Rwanda in order to have a pool of blind people who can contribute in making accessible websites and local Assistive Technology apps in Rwanda, and who can advocate for themselves on different online platforms regarding their rights. The trainees will be identified among best performers in our past trainings.

Challenge

In 12 million people in Rwanda, 1/100 is visually impaired and it's difficult to many of them to access to local digital services and the available software applications that help them in their daily life, they often don't fit into our local context.

Long-Term Impact

In the long term, the 10 trained youth will have skills which will help them to contribute in the design of accessible websites in Rwanda and in the design of apps that meet users with disabilities needs. In addition, they will be supported to look for jobs in tech industry.
