The number of families requesting our help has increased since the beginning of the pandemic. Every day, new families with dependent children come to us asking for more help to meet needs that until now had been covered. Through this project, we seek to help 400 families to cover their most basic needs, through the delivery of shopping vouchers that allow them to cover part of their needs for food, medicines, hygiene or products for the little ones of the house such as clothes, milk, etc.

Challenge

Through our daily work with the families of the minors we serve in our Day Centers, we have been detecting an increase in basic needs, today aggravated by the COVID-19. According to the Living Conditions Survey published by the INE, poverty or severe material deprivation in Spain increased to 7% in 2020, affecting 3.3 million people. This project seeks to support the neediest families, to cover part of their basic expenses that, without our support, they would not be able to cover.

Long-Term Impact

By providing support to cover their basic needs, families can concentrate their efforts on other aspects that also affect them and are decisive to solve or improve the situation in which they find themselves. All the efforts we make to support families, such as psychological care, training workshops, job search, aid vouchers, etc., are decisive in helping people to improve their situation so that their children can grow up in a more prosperous environment.
