Thanks to the generous donors we have enough money to build Community Kitchen. The Cyaruzinge Village is so pleased as they look forward to their children having a daily nutritious meal of hot porridge. The long-term goal is to build up the Kitchen into a Cafe where commuters, neighbors, and community members pay to eat. With this Feed the Children can become a self-sustaining endeavor. This takes time, and so for now, we need financial help towards reaching our goal.
Challenge
The Chief of Cyaruzinge Village, Nzariturande Jean Marie, asked for our help to bring better nutrition for the children. The parents and grandparents want to eliminate hunger and malnutrition in their grandkids, which is very common because most people do not own land on which to grow food. Covid made things worse! Hungry children don't learn as well because they have trouble staying alert. Better nutrition will help improve their energy, learning, physical growth, and total health.
Long-Term Impact
Nutrition is vital for growth and development. Young bodies and minds will have more energy to resist infection if they have food every day. They will have better brain development, stronger bones and muscles, and more resilience in life if they get a better start in their first few years. The survival of children is key to the survival of the community. With food, they'll survive. With learning, they'll thrive. This project will enhance the future of hundreds of children and their families.
