On November 21, 2022, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake stuck the island of Java in Indonesia, leaving a trail of death and destruction. This earthquake killed at least 321, seriously injured over 500 people, and left over 73,000 people in internally displaced people camps. ActionAid is on the ground working in the affected areas to provide vital well-being support, food, and hygiene products to women and adolescent girls who have experienced the horrors of this disaster.
Challenge
This earthquake destroyed thousands of buildings, including houses, schools, mosques, and hospitals, had been damaged or destroyed. Many people have lost their homes, neighborhoods, and loved ones. Critical infrastructure like electricity and clean water has also been impacted. With a death toll of 321 and hundreds injured, the impacted communities in Indonesia need our support, both in the short, and long term.
Long-Term Impact
ActionAid's response is community-driven and rights-based, which means your donation today invests in change that lasts. ActionAid's support provides both short-term crisis response as well as long-term resilience building.
