Electricity in the community where Space4all is located is powered by a state-owned power company in Zambia; still, the cost is very high and the supply is very unreliable. Unreliable electricity makes it difficult to operate Space4all at efficiently full capacity every day. Installing Solar Panels will provide Space4all with environment-friendly renewable energy and a dependable source of unlimited cost-efficient energy, allowing us to run the centre effectively without interruptions.

Challenge

Power cuts and load-shedding occur daily and can last for hours, which means Space4all has no electricity, IT support, and water. This leaves us with not only unsanitary conditions but is dysfunctional for the students who come to Space4all for tuition, to complete their homework, to use the computers, and to enjoy some time out with their friends before they go home to do household chores. Our nutritional program is also impacted negatively during power cuts and limits our nutrition services.

Long-Term Impact

This project will promote continuous education support for over 200 students while being climate-friendly and promoting the use of renewable energy. With this project, we can ensure uninterrupted services at the space4all. Additionally, long term, we hope that this project will promote the positive effect of renewable energy on the environment and encourage the Bauleni community as a whole to take climate actions by implementing the use of renewable energy.
