When our families arrive with us we provide them with brand new duvets, covers and towels. This means that they are welcomed after their difficult journey with a beautiful clean bed. This also means that when they leave us they have their own bedding and towels to take with them.

Challenge

We operate 2 safe houses for families who have fled dangerous Domestic Abuse. When the families arrive with us sometimes they have fled with nothing. They are sometimes scared and their children may not understand what has happened. They may have been removed from school with no notice so they are not even able to say good bye to friends.

Long-Term Impact

Some people believe that people in need should be grateful for anything, others know this not to be true. In order to build self esteem and a sense of self worth people have to feel important and valued. Giving someone an old bedding set is not starting the positive message that we believe to be vital on their road to a new start free from abuse.
