India is a country where millions of people live in extreme poverty. In order to help the poor to navigate through these bad times during the lockdown, El Shaddai has been working round the clock to ease the distress of 1000 marginalized individuals by serving them with dry rations and groceries. Within few days of launching the initiative, we have distributed the groceries to about 500 needy families across the state of Goa.
Challenge
After the outbreak of this Coronavirus pandemic, millions of people have lost their jobs, and moreover are struggling each day to feed their families. During the survey we came across many families who are ashamed to say that they don't have even Rs. 50 left in their pocket to feed their children. El Shaddai is taking the initiative to ensure that our daily wage earners aren't forgotten. However our efforts alone will not be enough. We are sending out appeals to raise funds for the said purpose.
Long-Term Impact
This project will prevent 1000 vulnerable families, slum dwellers, daily workers and migrants from starvation, malnutrition, homeless, and improve their quality of life by making sure that they are not compromised on good health. In the long run, this will help the economy to recover faster from the pandemic.
