The "Pasos Pequenitos" Day Care Center in Honduras, gives young, single mothers the opportunity to complete their education. While their children are cared for in a safe and loving environment, they can finish the high school education, get an upper education or go to university.
Challenge
Honduras is one of the most violent countries in the world. Crime, poverty and insecurity are commonplace for many families. The prices for food and even for water are impossible to pay for the majority of the population. For young mothers who are completely on their own, it is therefore particularly difficult to secure the living for their family. Out of necessity, many families send their children to work to help feeding the family.
Long-Term Impact
PEN PAPER PEACE stands for education. Symbolically speaking, pen and paper improve the lives of people who live in poverty. We are convinced that education creates perspectives, gives courage and is the prerequisite for a self-responsible future. Socially, education creates the conditions for security, political stability and a fair society. Education creates peace.
