Glad's House wants to enable & support 50 children get education . We made contact with these individuals while they were at a greater risk of becoming homeless and some were already in the streets. All of them have been out of school for more than 3 years while some have never been to school at all. This project will give each individual a chance to live in a family again and access catch up education in the safe space and finally join a mainstream school through after care activities.

Challenge

Homeless children in Mombasa lack access to education that is age appropriate and matches the ability. Therefore most of them, when they get a chance to go to school, they are unable to make it to completion due to various challenges. Major challenges are; one cannot fit in a class due to the age gap and inability to catch up with peers in class. Our catch-up education program challenges this by offering accelerated learning to these individuals which catches them up with their peers in school.

Long-Term Impact

By placing these children in school it will heavily contribute to changing their lives positively. It gives them a chance not just to acquire education but also access more life opportunities which require education qualifications. Placing children in the family, will offer them family values and work in the child's pace to bring the original family in the journey hence safe reintegration.
