This program helps critically ill, disabled and hospitalized children and family members cope and heal through hands-on art projects that enhance the quality of their hospital experience and whole family well-being throughout treatment and recovery.
Challenge
Children with critical and/or chronic illnesses and those with life-altering disabilities experience pain, fear, depression, anxiety and isolation. They suffer from feelings of lack of control over their lives and the physical changes that often accompany illness, injury or disability can be devastating. The severe illness or disability of a child also takes an enormous toll on the entire family. This program provides art support to 10,000 children and family members annually.
Long-Term Impact
Program helps patients and family members cope, encourages compliance with treatment plans, increases self-confidence, encourages self-expression, reduces stress, pain, isolation and anxiety and contributes to overall well-being.
