Right now, across the world, millions of children are caught up in conflicts they played no part in creating. Children make up more than half of the world's 22.5 million refugees from countries like Syria, South Sudan, Yemen, Uganda, and Bangladesh. The recent events in Afghanistan only add to the existing global refugee crisis, forcing tens of thousands of people to flee violence and persecution. Save the Children remains committed to doing everything we can to help children around the world,
Challenge
The recent events in Afghanistan only add to the existing global refugee crisis, forcing tens of thousands of people to flee violence and persecution. Refugee children are particularly vulnerable, as education, health care, nutrition and other resources are extremely difficult to access in a crisis like this. The trauma of violence, displacement and the uncertainty that follows also takes an immense toll on children.
Long-Term Impact
Save the Children does whatever it takes to ensure refugee children grow up healthy, educated and safe. We work nonstop supporting refugee girls and boys, helping them survive, and thrive. Whether in camps, on the move or in host communities, our caring staff provides lifesaving services and supplies. We're tending to children's physical and emotional needs. And we're setting up safe places for children in crisis to learn and play, critical for child development.
