KOTO is synonymous with exceptional hospitality training. Visited by President Bill Clinton and Laura Bush, KOTO has enabled 1,000 Vietnamese youth to escape poverty through our holistic 24-month hospitality training program over the last 20 years. This project will enable KOTO to provide an additional 15 places to disadvantaged single mothers and ethnic minority women to receive hospitality training, full board, healthcare and social welfare services for 2 years and break the cycle of poverty.

Challenge

Despite Vietnam's rapid development, the UN states 90% of the poor live in rural areas and 50% of the ethnic minority population live in poverty. Many have not finished elementary school, marry and have children quickly. They usually experience very high levels of domestic violence and unemployment rates. Without education and training, these women become victims of trafficking or abuse. These funds will provide more places to rural and ethnic minority youth to break the poverty cycle.

Long-Term Impact

Our 1,000 alumni are working in 14 countries, many now in senior positions. The 2021 KOTO Social Impact report suggested: in March 2020, 83% of KOTO graduates are employed; 90% earn above the average monthly wage in the hospitality industry in Vietnam; 33% percent assume managerial positions and 7% have founded registered businesses. Moreover, KOTO graduates consistently give back to their family and communities even years after graduation, extending the program's impact on thousands of people.
