We're sharing our expertise in sustainable building and renewable energy to help those who lost their homes during the devastating Australian bushfires last summer. With your support, we're helping fire-affected people to plan and rebuild their homes so they are resilient to our climate for years to come.
Challenge
The 2019-2020 Australian bushfires destroyed 5,900 buildings and homes. 2.9 million people had their homes damaged, threatened, or were temporarily displaced. This will happen again. Bushfires cannot be eradicated, and our communities will continue to be impacted. People will keep rebuilding and others fear they might be next. To fight the impact of climate change, we need to help our bereft communities to rebuild their homes using bushfire-resilient and sustainable methods.
Long-Term Impact
Australian communities are adjusting to bigger and more frequent bushfires. Sustainable and resilient buildings are fast becoming the new normal. Our accessible and accurate information about green and resilient building will benefit communities for years to come, as we battle to recover from the exacerbating affects of our climate emergency. Our work will build the supplier network in sustainable, climate resilient materials, and increase community demand for them.
