Grandsons of Abraham is feeding, educating and providing a safe environment to over 114 children rescued from the streets of Mombasa, many of whom have been victims of abuse - sexual exploitation, trafficking and child labour.
Challenge
Mombasa is a tourist city because of its beautiful white beaches. However, it is home to over 200,000 street children. The city is a hub for child trafficking and is a transit, destination and origin of trafficked children who are lured to the streets due to poverty and lack of access to education and a safe environment. These children's continued stay on the streets expose them to inhuman conditions, abuse, criminal activities and deny them basic human rights like shelter and education.
Long-Term Impact
We will provide shelter and educate 150 children rescued and rehabilitated from the streets. They will learn alongside other children from the community around the Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre. The children have dreams and work hard to make those dreams come true. Some want to be pilots, others teachers or doctors. We will nurture their dreams by giving them hope through access to education. Education will help them attain their life goals, support their families and be good citizens.
