This project intends to construct 20 ventilated toilets and provides hygiene education to the targeted communities especially vulnerable people, people with disabilities and orphans children, to reduce diarrhea and other illnesses related to poor hygiene, with the main purpose to improve Hygiene and infectious diseases in Rulindo district, Northern Rwanda.
Challenge
In Rwanda, only 64 per cent of the population in Rwanda have access to these sanitation services. There is also a huge disparity depending on the wealth of the family: 94 per cent of the wealthiest households have their own toilet, compared to only 74 per cent of the poorest households. This project intend to support 20 poorest Families in Rulindo district, Northern part of Rwanda.
Long-Term Impact
Poorest families including women and children, people with disabilities and orphans will have access to the toilets in their homes. Through this intervention their health will considerably improved.
