This project will help provide both academic and vocational skills education to 300 children in need at Fortune Community School in Solwezi District of Zambia. Charity Centre for Children and Youth Development has constructed six (6) classroom that is providing both basic education and skills training to the less privileged children in the community. The project will help raise money for payment of salaries for teachers and tutors, school uniforms, Books, food, sanitation pads for girls etc.
Challenge
HIV/AIDS being an incurable pandemic has brought to the increase of Orphans and vulnerable children who have lost their parents Due to HIV. Solwezi District being a provincial capital of north western province, there are over 6,000 orphans and most of these have abandoned school due to luck of support and long distances to the government schools. Secondly, in Humphrey Mulemba area there is no any other school providing education to the community apart from our organization.
Long-Term Impact
The project is helping educate 300 orphans and vulnerable children allowing them to remain in school and improve on their life and contribute to development of the community and the national at large. It will reduce the burden the guardians have taken up of taking care of orphans left behind by there relatives and this will also reduce poverty and crime in the community which is on increase as a result of children being on the street. Education opens opportunities in the life of an individual.
