Traffickers exploit thousands of Guatemalan children by forced labor within the country, often in agriculture or domestic service. Indigenous Guatemalans, especially children, are particularly vulnerable to being exploited through forced labor. We fight against the labor trafficking of 100 indigenous children by removing barriers to education, providing programs to children in hazardous work, and prevention education to indigenous tribes in Guatemala. The time to end child slavery is now!

Challenge

Children in Guatemala are engaged in the worst and most dangerous forms of child labor. Most victims of forced labour suffer multiple forms of coercion, threats, and physical violence. Indigenous children account for more than half of child laborers in Guatemala. Children in rural areas are more likely to work than children in urban areas, because there is only an elementary school. Our project is to implement holistic programs to address this crime against the vulnerable indigenous children.

Long-Term Impact

Currently we initiate social programs to address child labor in agriculture and domestic work. We strive to ensure that social programs are implemented, well funded, able to carry out their objectives, reach indigenous populations, and report on yearly activities. In the upcoming years, our work will remove barriers to education for all children, including boys and indigenous children, and children living in rural areas. Through your support, we can prevent the labor trafficking of children.
